Community Furniture Stores opened our second store in Selby in 2004, following growing demand on the York store to provide household items to this area.
Selby developed the first of the onsite workshops for the charity which has grown over the years to become a substantial part of their work, providing voluntary skills and experience training for the Selby community. As well as upcycling donated items, the Selby Workshop has developed a range of innovative garden furniture that can be made to fit the customers needs and is built to order. The Workshop specializes in longer term placements for people with leaning disabilities, alongside its traditional training and work experience placements for people out of work.
We are helped with funding from The Garfield Weston Foundation to develop our store and work in the community, and from The Coalfields Regeneration Trust to run our workshop program.
