The first Community Furniture Store was established in 1988, to support the residents of York, a second store opened in Selby in 2004, and our third store in Scarborough opened in 2015. Over the years, thousands of each stores local households have benefited from low cost furniture; and many local residents have gained work experience, new skills and improved their confidence and well-being through volunteering in store and workshop placements.
Each store works in a very similar way and relies on donations of reuseable furniture, appliances and other household items, which we are always happy to receive. All stores offer a delivery and collection service within their local area, all collections are free and deliveries are made on a minimal fee to cover costs depending on your location. The stores are open to all and all items are sold at affordable prices, with concession prices available to those with proof of low income on all donated stock.
The range of donated items available in each store changes daily but new goods are normally always available to order from store.
The stores have limited free parking available and are open six days a week.
