Before visiting us or calling to arrange a donation, please check out our Covid-19 Response page or our Facebook page to see what we are doing in store and on the van to protect you and our team.

The youngest of the stores, Scarborough (Ryedale) opened in 2015 in response to demand in both Scarborough and neighboring Ryedale.  The store serves a broad area from Whitby and the Moors villages in the north, to Malton and broader Ryedale in the west, down to Bridlington and Driffield in the south.

We have a real focus on the customer and volunteer experience, creating a fun and inclusive atmosphere that has proven to benefit our team and created a loyal repeat customer base. The store has built close links with local charities and support services in Scarborough and continues to play a role in the recovery and rehabilitation process of local residents who’ve been through hard times.

The store has always incorporated a workshop, which has grown from a small craft area making gifts and cards, into a larger space that not only repairs donated items but specializes in furniture restoration, upholstery and up-cycling. We are also part of the Community RePaint Network, putting reuseable paint that would otherwise go to waste back into use at a fixed price per litre whatever the type or brand of paint.

In February 2019 the store team was recognized by Project Choice as their mentors of the year and in November 2018, the Workshop took part in The High Sheriff of North Yorkshires’ Dragons Den event organised by the Two Ridings Community Foundation, providing a set of bespoke up-cycled chairs and side tables for the “dragons” and receiving an a financial award for our work supporting people back into employment and combating isolation.  To see a selection of pictures from the event and the furniture we created for it Click here

The store gratefully receives funding from The Henry Smith Foundation for our work improving the voluntary teams well-being, The Sirius Minerals Foundation for our workshop program, providing skills and work experience opportunities, and The Trusthouse Charitable Foundation for our work improving lives in our community. We are also grateful for the support Two Ridings Community Foundation have provided during the lockdown.
