How to Donate Furniture

We understand the frustrations of wanting to get rid of old furniture and appliances, especially when you have ordered something new and no longer have room for the old piece.  Rather than just throwing it away why not donate it so that someone else can benefit from it.  As long as it’s reuseable your old sofa or fridge could be just the thing someone else needs.

At Community Furniture Store we can collect any resusable unwanted furniture that you would otherwise be getting rid of and can arrange to pick this up free of charge.   You are also welcome to drop in and donate furniture at one of our stores.

To donate furniture, it must be in a clean and reuseable condition – we do not accept items that are damp, water-damaged, very worn or particularly grimy.  All soft and upholstered furniture and chidren’s furniture  must have a fire safety label in line with the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988. Our drivers will inspect the furniture on collection and reserve the right to refuse to take away any items that they do not assess as being reuseable.

Donating Electrical Goods

We also collect unwanted electrical appliances including fridges adn freezers, washing machines, dishwashers, electric cookers (but not integrated ovens), lamps and other small electricals.  These must be in working order, although each one is thoroughly tested before going on sale.

Please note that we cannot collect electric fires as we are unable to test these thoroughly.

Gift Aid It

If you are a UK tax payer we can increase the value of your donation through Gift Aid at no extra cost to you.  The extra revenue generated by Gift Aid when you donate furniture allows us to keep our prices low and carry on our work to support people in the local community.
