In 2015 and as a result of popular demand, Community Furniture Stores established a base in Scarborough situated on the scenic Yorkshire east coast with a range of affordable second hand furniture and new products (mainly beds but some white goods) as well as providing furniture upholstery.
Serving the Ryedale area including neighbouring coastal towns and the Yorkshire Moors, the store has quickly established strong relationships with the public.
Ideally situated with plenty of parking and a shop floor with adequate space (4,000 square foot in fact!) to house a generous volume of stock, the Scarborough store is a breath of fresh air within its local community, providing recycled furniture at discounted prices.
Specialists in Furniture Upholstery
A service which is becoming rarer by the year, furniture upholstery is a thriving part of the Scarborough store with highly skilled staff able to work wonders on most household items.
With a specialist workshop in place to be able to do this, each piece of furniture is upholstered to a high standard placing an emphasis on ensuring each piece is sympathetically transformed back to its former glory. Although furniture upholstery isn’t the main function of the Scarborough store, it still is an important and popular aspect.
Most volunteer-ran store
While each store is grateful for its many volunteers, Scarborough boasts the most volunteers all of who dedicate their valuable time to ensuring that the public can find the right furniture to suit their requirements.
All volunteers complete comprehensive training so that they are able to help to the best of their ability and many of them have considerable experience.
