Workshop and Volunteer Supervisor
Salary up to £21,450

The Community Furniture Store in York is a registered charity that supports people in need in the city through furniture reuse.  We are currently looking for a Workshop and Volunteer Supervisor to drive forward our volunteering and training activities, including developing our furniture restoration workshop.  We offer work experience and training placements to people trying to increase their engagement in their community, including those looking for work and those with disabilities that make it hard for them to hold down paid employment.  This is a new role and offers the right person the chance to help shape the way the Store develops its work.

If you have a background working with volunteers and/or people with support needs, are a proven organiser who is able to teach practical skills, and are looking for a role that will improve the lives of people facing disadvantage then we’d love to hear from you.

Customer Services Supervisor (CFS York)
Salary up to £21,450

The Community Furniture Store in York is a registered charity that supports people in need in the city through furniture reuse.  We are recruiting for a Customer Service Supervisor  who will work closely with the Store Manager, staff and volunteers to strengthen all aspects of our customer service – in store, on our vans, by telephone, and online.  This will include leading the introduction of new ways of working using portable technology,  refining systems and processes, and ensuring that staff and volunteers have the training and support they need to be effective.

If you have retail experience at a supervisory level, are adept at using technology and are looking for a role where that will directly contribute to improving the lives of people in need then we’d love to hear from you.

Workshop Supervisor (Scarborough Store)

37.5 hours per week   Salary: £17,550

Community Furniture Store (Ryedale) are looking for a Workshop Supervisor to lead the volunteering and training activities held in the store’s workshop.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and supportive individual to fulfil this role. It would suit someone experienced in working with individuals from a mixture of backgrounds and with various support needs. Experience of upholstery, furniture restoration or upcycling would be beneficial as this is the focus of the existing work. We are looking for someone with the imagination and capacity to expand the existing activities and output of the workshop. There will be times where the workshop supervisor will be required to assist in other areas of the charity, helping on the shop floor and with deliveries but the role will be predominantly based in the workshop.

Volunteering with us

Community Furniture Stores are not-for-profit organisations and are always looking for volunteers to support our work.   Volunteering can be an ideal way to gain experience, learn new skills or give something back to the community.  Hours are by arrangement.  We are always looking for volunteers to help with customer service and stock management in our Stores/warehouses, and to support our delivery teams working on the vans.
